What about Sunni’s human rights in Bahrain

Protests took place in the 14th of Feb 2011 was suppose to be another revaluation like What happened in Tunisia and Egypt. However, the earlier mentioned two nations exploded in the face of oppression in countries controlled by rulers who declared the Emergency Law since day one of their enthronement. They were two nations were people revolted for their dignity, **eedom, rights and justice. Nations that had been united through the “unplanned revolution” regardless to their: color, ethnicity, religion or belief. The principles of those two revolutions weren’t found in the Bahraini case. As it was geared and supported politically, financially, religiously and logistically by hidden motives, agendas and unannounced purposes. To set records straight during the first week of the protests the Sunni current didn’t move a step toward or against the protesters, even though they weren’t happy about the uncontrolled and unorganized protests in a civilized country like Bahrain. However, they started to get worried about the most valuable asset of the country, which is its political stability, as demands unpredictability escalated during the first 3 days **om the improvement of the living standards to the overthrow of the whole regime. It was only then when the Sunni current didn’t agree or justified the demands that would bring anguish and despair to a kingdom that is newly introduced to the notion and practice of democracy. A kingdom that sectarianism and religious beliefs, even among Muslims themselves, are still have huge influence over the daily life and shadowing all political decisions. Therefore, they decided to voice out their rejection for the forced agenda by Shia who believed strongly in the myth of their superiority and their right to overtake the Kingdom. Dare Sunni to oppose the Shia’s agenda; they were labeled as thugs “baltajya”, traitors, murderers, and all sort of names that would criminalize and demean anyone who dare to oppose their agenda. Since that day Sunni were targeted and their human rights had been violated in so many ways, left them in denial that all of this is happening in Bahrain! Media presenters who stood strongly against the subversion received death letters, warnings and threatening phone calls for themselves and their families. Too much for media **eedom!! Schools and young children were forced into participating in the demonstrations against their well without their parents consent. Sunni students were attacked and knifed in schools. Teachers were abandoning their duties and force students to be part of something they don’t approve. Sunni naturalized students were attacked, videotaped and those tapes were distributed to spread fear amongst their families. All of this happened in schools. Too much for preserving and protecting everyone’s right to learn!! The main hospital “Salmanya Hospital” was overtaken by Shia and converted into a nest that is dedicated to serve the overthrown attempt, selecting who to treat and whom not to treat based on sectarian calls. Sunni’s in several incidents were denied treatment because of their faith. Non-Bahraini’s were attacked, wounded and captured as hostages. Moreover, they were tortured and abused whenever they had been taken to the above mentioned hospital and, again, it was documented. Too much for professionalism and the human right of receiving fair treatment!!Additionally, Shia formed militia’s that established checking points targeting Sunni and whoever isn’t Shia. Agenda full of sectarianism based on spreading fears and tying others hands of doing anything. Too much for the calls of “peaceful demonstrations”, “No Sunni No Shia”, and “The People Want to Overthrow the Regime”. Shia started to force people not go to work and establishing road blocks, checking points and Sunni areas were targeted as armed marches headed toward them. Sunni feared for their lives, Asian’s were either fleeing the country or sticking to homes, streets were empty and life stopped as all Bahraini knew.Someone had to do something and all looked up to the country’s government asking and pleading for action and to restore order. Therefore, army forces were deployed and National Security Status was declared. Still extremist Shia chose to clash with the authority. They have wounded and killed guards and police officers. Too much for peaceful demonstrations!!Yet the human rights Watch, **ontline and other supposedly human rights organizations tried their best to look with a single eye to the situation and ignore the Sunni and non-Bahraini rights in living civilized, safe and decent life. They adopted one side’s position and completely ignored the other. Which make us legitimately wonder as Sunni:What is the purpose behind their visits that are pre-scheduled in collaboration with Shia’s figures? Why they refuse to meet Sunni who represent the other major part of the society? Why would a fair human right organization start by asking the “are you Shia or Sunni?” and if you answer “am Sunni” then you get the response of “We are not interested”?Why are you targeting the government while they attempt to restore order? How come independent human rights organizations try to foster one party’s agenda and adopt it internationally sabotaging my Bahrain’s image?I’m not the government …. I’m a Bahraini Sunni …. And I do have rights …. Never take away my human rights by the name of human rights … I deserve to be listened to.Be fair Listen to me … I’m a SUNNI and I deserve to LIVE.Note: Whenever the term Shia used in this article it refers to extremist and deceived Shia. The author’s stand is that both parties can live together if they thought about the general public interest not every party’s hidden agenda.-Proud Bahraini
